You'll get input that the earlier the intake close, the better for low-end power. This is true as it increases corrected compression. Cams with later intake close need more compression to compensate. To add another perspective to this, with higher corrected compression comes a bit more heat and potential challenges with tuning (no pinging). Personally, I opted for a cam with a little later intake close as I want ease of tuning and the ability to run closed loop in a broader range for improved mileage (45-50 mpg). There are trade-offs. I have plenty of power for my needs and the power comes on when I want it. It's a matter of personal choice and what you want out of your motor.

I was looking at the Big Boyz Twin-Cam Camshaft Comparator. I'd like to find specs on the stock cam for the 2012 Street Glide (103). Would it be "HD Injected 2006+", "HD Injected B" or something else entirely. I'd like to get an understanding of how other cams compare to stock. Anyone know where I can find that info? Thx.

The 07-09 cam specs should be what you're looking for, I don't think they've changed since 09.

The 54h in reality comes on at 3000. They are softer at bottom end than say SE 255's. I made about 4 hp and 3 TQ over 255's in my 103 road king at 3700 rpm and upper rpms were stronger, BUT i missed the low end torque of the 255s. Not trying to do a cam comparison but giving you my experience. When i got my Street glide 103, i went back to 255's. You can look outside the Andrews camp and SE camp too... good luck in your quest.

Thanks RK09RK. This is just the feedback I need. I'm really looking for torque a little lower in the RPMs than that. Good to know.

If you're hell bent on Andrews cams look into the 48's too they work will in otherwise unmodified engines.

The 54's like more compression, so that's something to consider if you go that route.

There are many good cam choices for stock 103's you need to pick one that fits your riding style.

There's info on the 57's over on HTT, I'm not sure if it's against rules to link to other forums, so do a search over there or drop me a pm.
Gary Wallace at Andrews agrees with you and also recommends the 48H for my situation. Altitude played a big part as my compression ratio is effectively less (I'm in Denver, CO). He said the 57H would be a good fit if I was riding closer to sea level. Doc also approved of the 48H in my case.
