Default swapping de-catted OEM exhaust. New map needed?

Tax refund came in!! I'm going to swap my de-catted OEM headpipe and slipons for V&H Power Duals and Big Louie 4" mufflers. I've already got a Fuel Moto air cleaner and a Power Vision Tuner. When Fuel Moto sent the tuner, they included a map that worked great with the bike as it is now. With the aftermarket exhaust, will I need a new map, or should a few basic auto tune runs take care of the difference?

Thanks

David

I actually just did this swap during bike week. Picked up the power duals from V&H at the show to replace my de-catted stock pipes. DynoJet had a booth there also so I asked the question (I have a PC-V not a PV) and they said yes it needed a new map. They actually told me to bring the bike over to them after V&H was done with the install and they would drop a new map in it for me, which I did.

It may be that the auto tune feature in the PV will take care of things for you where they wouldn't with me, as I didn't add the AT module onto my PC-V. Fuel Moto should be able to tell you pretty quick if you give them a call.

I believe there will be only a slight change in the VE when you remove the cat. I would run a few auto tunes (until you get within 4%)... then you're done.

I have a '12 Limited w/SE255 cams, SE air cleaner, and SE slip-ons. Yeah I know, but it was a new bike that I rode cross country and wanted the warranty in tact.

When I bought my PV from Fuel Moto, I told them that I would be buying their 2-1-2 head pipe in the future. I forgot who I spoke with, but he said I wouldn't need a new tune when I switched head pipes...

Just my $.02....

Do some AT runs, you should be fine.

That's what the AT is for, the maps they send out just "get you in the ballpark"...

I just did Jackpot 2-1-2, SE ventilator AC and the stock slip-ons. The head pipe opened up the sound. Really like it. Just took me about 3 hours and 3 extra hose clamps to get the heat shields lined up. Used the hose clamps to space the shields out and close the gaps.

Call Fuel Moto, they will adjust the mapping, or send you a new one.
