Got a buddy with a 2012 SE SG. He put a J&M 250 watt amp with 7 1/4 J&M speakers.
And later on he put a Thunder-Max on it.
When he goes out and rides sometimes his radio cuts off and later on it will come back on.
He is thinkin it is his Thunder-Max that is causing the problem.
I have a TM on my 11 Ultra Limited and I have the J&M 7 1/4 rokker speakers and a Tm and I've never had my radio to cut off and back on by itself later on.
Has anybody else had a problem with their HK radio doing this.
If the audio just cuts out but the radio stays on and the only way to get the audio back is to cycle the radio off then on it could be a well known hk audio board issue where the solder joints don't get a good enough solder bath and eventually go out.
If the dealer found out the bike has a Thunder-Max on it, they would blow a fuse.
We are 50 miles from a HD dealer and kinda don't like going to the dealer.
They seem to mess up as much as they repair
He changed back to the stock ECM today and said the problem left.
But I think with it being 96* in SE texas he will have the problem to return.
Kinda hard to think the Tm is causing the problems.
Need to call Iron Cross....or take the radio in to your HD dealer for repair.
Wonder how the dealer would react if you took your bike to them with a radio problem and you had a aftermarket amp and speakers installed on it
And you are having a problem. Don't know if anybody has tried this or not.
I installed the BT amps and front speakers right after I got my 2009 FLHTCU, no problems right at first. As time went by, radio started cutting out. switch audio switch up to some other position and it would come on, then the time it would last kept getting shorter. Of course, when it was at the dealer it didnt happen, so finally one day when it went out, I headed straight to the dealer, being careful not to touch anything, and leave it running, so the service guy could witness it first hand. did this twice, my last one seems to be doing ok so far. I am re wiring all accessories to include a power relay. And thanks to this forum, will be adding the dielectric grease to everything as well. I am unsure of where the "inline" fuse is referred to the previous post. Biketronics company and products are incredible to work with. I am using stock wiring from stock radio to the rear pods, I find that I can adjust the fader more to the rear, and using the amps for the front, the sound is great!
