can you fit two touring bikes on a 5'x8' trailer?

If so how did you do it? Where did you place the straps on the front of the bike and did you have to mount some angle iron or something on the front edge of the trailer to attach the other end of the straps to so you have a good angle on them? pics would be even better :-)

Have had 2 Fatboys in the bed of a pickup - one facing front, one facing back.

I dont think its possible.

No way not enough clearance between bikes to prevent damage.

Lay one on its side, and stack the other on top of it, then strap down the whole mess.

The only way two of those bikes are getting on that trailer.

I put two on a "6" x 8 flatbed, and I had to remove the saddlebags to make them both fit. I can't see how two would fit on a 5x8. Two small dirt bikes, maybe ....

Lots of people can and will tell you to ride em.

IF this is a flatbed trailer, and you can get the bikes within a few inches of the outside edge of the trailer, its doable. You would need to add approximately 18 inches to the outside on all 4 corners to locate your straps. I saw a guy do this by using two 8ft pieces of box tubing bolted to the front and rear of the trailer. This effectively gives you an 8 ft wide trailer with a 5 ft wide deck.

If you want to see if you can do it, tape a 5 by 8 ft box on the floor, and pull both bikes up next to each other inside the box.

Even if you figure out a way to do it, remember you're dealing with +/- 1700 pounds of weight. I don't think too many 5x8 trailers are rated for that.
