Default How To??? Take apart floating rotors???

I just bought a Agitator front wheel. It's the contrast cut with chrome rotors. I want black rotors. My question is how do I, or can I take these rotors apart to have them powder coated?

Thanks.

don't think you can take them apart, and the heat of the brakes would burn up any powder close to the surface that the pad runs on.

I only want to pc the inner ring. They come in black, may be anodized but I think because they are floating the heat would not be a problem. Thanks.

There are structural button/rivets are hold the two pieces together. These are assembled under considerable pressure with correct tooling. You have to drill or remove them them out to seperate the two pieces. Getting the correct rivets & put back in & compressed correctly maybe close to impossible without the correct tools. A serious safety issue... dont do it.

Better off in the long term to buy the correct rotors to match your wheels & sell the ones you have.

Jim has covered it. Some brands of floating rotors, like my front Harrisons, are held together with circlips, in which case getting them apart is easy, but if yours are rivetted then they ain't comin' apart!

Just buy new ones and put your old ones up for sale.
