Aftermarket stereo
Hello,
My HK stereo is starting to have problems with the sound cutting out and I'm thinking about going with a aftermarket stereo. Any suggestions on a head unit that won't break the bank? Is there a way to still use the handle bar controls with the new head unit? Thanks in advance |
Sony radio install kit retains handle bar controls 220.00
http://www.biketronics.com/products/...stall-Kit.html Sony Marine radio $199.00 http://www.biketronics.com/sony-dsx-ms60-marine/ You'll loose rider/passenger intercom and CB radio with this set up |
I did what post two recommended, I choose a different sony head unit BT4000P. I wanted Blu Tooth and USB. I bought mine off ebay for 135 shipped
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Sony-MEX-BT4...item2ebde14d39 My only complaint it I wish in the head unit, I could shut off the options/ inputs, that I did not want, so I would not have to scroll through them. Sound quality is as good as you can expect from an almost 100 head unit. It blows the factory one out the door. Kirt |
Hawgwired also sells the adapter unit yo use after market stereos.

Does it have XM?

My HK keeps cutting out too. I hit the speaker button and it comes right back on. I was hoping a new speaker button would fix it. Or is my radio going to hell?

I sent mine off to Iron Cross Audio and had my stock unit reworked. Very happy with the results.

I went to a sony head unit. The DSX 200 lets you use your iPod instead of CDs that skip and I also use the wring kit from hogg wire that let me keep al of my handlebar controls.

I just finished doing this myself and I have to tell you the sound difference is night and day. I also have a Arc audio mini. I went with the Sony 310btx. $189 on EBay. What costs more was the harness. I went with the Hawg Wire kit and still have handlebar controls. The kit was very easy, all plug and play. The kit was $270 with tax and shipping
