Hd boot not comfortable at all but will afford better protection in certain bad situations.

Been a RW fan for many years, both as a riding boot and a work boot.

For a riding boot I always wore model 970, which was discontinued last yr
and was marked down to 99.00.
Bought 3 pairs of them with 2 prs sitting in the closet.

I got 1 pr marked FUNERAL on the box!

I'm wearing a Icon Super Duty boot. It's a leftover from my sport bike days. They have a couple of seasons on them. When I bought my HD in March I starting converting all my sport bike gear over. I remember looking at HD boots at the dealership. Not impressed at all. The leather on the boots seemed soft and didn't seem like they'd hold up that well in a crash.

Just my opinion

For me RW has my size 12H in King toe. End of subject for me. Only issue all seem to be made in China. I have the HD slip ones which I like also, but must by a size larger.

Lately I got some Doc Martins. Their US warehouse is in Portland. I find them great also, but only EEE. I like steel style toes. $hit kicker I guess.

I am getting RW for my next boot. To help the process I have been wearing my HD boots to works lately just to help tear the hell out of them in the welding shop. They are taking a daily beating. The wife thinks I am crazy but does not understand nor will I tell her since she bought them but these HD boots really do not feel good on my feet after 3-4 hours. A full day and I can't wait to take them off.

I have a pair of HD FXRG boots from several years back, they are one of the most comfortable out of the box boot I ever had, they wear real good and are a lot like the Military Bellville boot. I think Wolverine made them. I wore them on a Kodiak Bear Hunt and beat them up some but I hiked what felt like hundreds of miles up and down some darn large hills and my feet were always comfortable at the end of the long long days. I wish I could find another couple of pairs of them. I have had Red Wings of many styles and never been unhappy even after many resolings. A few pair of Wolverines left me with no regrets as well. I am also a firm believer in Military boots and have worn out many pairs of them as well. The Militery boots are probably the best bargain out there.

I do not know about RW but I know I will not buy another HD boot. 1st time out, my feet got wet. Had to buy mink oil to cover the stiching on the front. Last ride I had, I noticed wind coming the zipper which also means it is not waterproof. I usually wear Cruiseworks but switch as I needed some height and the HD boots had thicker soles.

My personal favorite is the redwing boot with the king toe in them the composite toe is great in the winter time compared to the steel toe. They come in insulated and non insulated. Mine last roughly a year but I'm very rough on them. Looking at trying the steel toed pecos slipon this hunting season.
