Default Under warranty?

After a ride today I was checking the bike and discovered my passenger backrest was loose (the pad). When I tried to tighten it up, only one of the three bolts would tighten or loosen. The other two turn, but neither tighten up or will come out. This item was installed when I got the bike by the dealer. Since the bike isn't even a year old yet, think they'll cover it under warranty?

I hate the fact they aren't open on Mondays. Have to wait until Tuesday to take it in.

well, supposedly any thing that you had put on at time of purchase is covered by the factory warranty. but i wouldn't hold my breath, you know how dealers like to get out of stuff. i guess we'll find out if you have a dealer or a stealer on tuesday....

Jay, any nut in there is now laying somewhere within the pad. And I can't even feel them.

scratch, I hear ya. If they refuse, it isn't going to be pretty.

If it was originally installed equipment it should be covered within that time frame, IMO.

Add ons aren`t covered by factory warranty i was told. I think 90 days. I had a problem with H-D luggage rack rotary latch that broke. I had to buy a new latch.

They are covered for 2 years if they are installed by the dealer at time of purchase.

This is correct, they are covered under the normal warranty.... even if the parts are bought & installed by a dealer within 30 days of new purchase. It's in the back of your owners manual.

I had dealer in NY install LED turn signals at purchase and a dealer in CA is going to replace a faulty LED under warranty.

The CA dealer said that the NY dealer added the options into the "database", or else they would have had to call the dealer to confirm the accessory install.

Don't let them blow you off... good luck

It definitely will be covered by the warranty. The accessory was installed by an authorised Harley-Davidson dealer and no doubt the bike (accessories 'n all) went through a Pre-Delivery Inspection before being handed over to you.

It'll be covered - a sure sign of the reputability of your dealer will be revealed by the amount of squirming they do to avoid dealing with it (hopefully none at all).
