Default Dunlop MU85B16 or MU90B16 whats the diff?

Excuse my ignorance but, I want to go to the Dunlop Elite tires for my 08 FLHX. Dunlop website shows only the D402 tires are applicable. Reason is, the stock rear size is MU85B16 for the D402, Elite is only available in MU90B16. The front remains the same. My big question is:Can I install the Elite without ANY mods, problems, etc. ??

wait are you confusing MU85 and MT90 ?

The mu85 is slightly wider than the MT90.

the mu85 has a higher load capacity as well.

The MT90 was std on evo and early twin cams, later twin cams with narrowed belt could fit the MU85.

and the multi-tread is now used for the 09+ this tire has a softer compound on the sides and fits the wider rear of the new style frame.

If you have a tire guy in your area, stop by for a chat and see what they suggest.

Luckily in my town I have a couple of indy tire specialists- although last time around the dealer was the best price

I just put the mu90b16 E3 on my 08 and its a perfect fit. Its the closest to the stock size you will get in the E3.

I just put the MU90B 16 e3 rear tire on my 2008 FLHRC yesterday it is just a little taller and wider than the Stock 402 MU85 .

I had to put a cpl extra washers and an O-ring on my seat nut so it wouldn't rub .

I got almost 11,000 out of the rear 402 the front looks new .

When i wear out the front 402 i will put on a e3 mt90 16
