Default Compensator and the damn dealer

I know my compensator is bad so I stopped by the dealer today to schedule an appointment.. I tell them what going on and they say esp will cover $450 roughly and that is be responsible for 240ish.. So right there I'm like hold up why am I having to pay for the damn thing.. My buddy just had the same thing done on his 08 dyna and it was 50 for the deductible and that's it.. So the guy then tells me that it's different from the 08 dyna to the 08 Street glide.. Of course I say it's the same engine and tranny.. I could take his off and put it on mine and it would be the same thing.he refuses and says it's a different part number and that I have to pay for the upgraded screaming eagle rotor or some **** even though it's the only thing they have to put on my bike lol.. So at last I said u have 1 and only 1 part to cover warranty work on my bike and I have to pay extra because it's an "upgraded" part.. He says yea and I walk away.. Am I missing something here..

Yes, lube..;-)
However, the compensator has been changed at least twice since your bike was built. That may be the semi-solid ground he is standing on. Try another dealer.

If they tell ya the only way to fix the problem is to upgrade you need to tell them tuff **** that's their problem but then this Harley Davidson your dealing with. If you can find anyone who will sell you a 2010 or older, Buy it and put it in yourself. Otherwise they've got ya by the *****, All dealers and they're suppliers were ordered to pull all comps off the shelves with the release of the new improved 2014a comp. It won't fit without the new rotor, which they insist you pay for.
You can be sure some douche bag in a suit got a pat on the back and a bonus for that scam.
