Always stored mine at home, thinking about taking to the dealer and their heated storage. Here's why

My bike is in a detached un-heated garage, on plywood and with a cover. After a cold spell and everything in the garage is real cold, get a day where it is above freezing, open the door, and the bike gets instantly a lot of condensation on it. Anything metal/chrome is affected. I noticed the chrome starts to get some light corrosion spotting in places. So I'm thinking heated storage from now on. $175 at my dealer

Then you're familiar with all of the twists and curves near 8 Mile-11 Mile. Rumor is that when I-75 was being built, the MDOT engineers put in those curves so that Big Beaver would become exit 69.

Headed for Hilton Head, SC next month to store while I am up north. Have some extra time planned vacation there this winter. I will bring it back in March or April depending on the weather. Life is good!

That was/is my concern too. We had a really mild winter last year, but we can get below zero for quite awhile. I don't relish my baby being in that type of cold. Besides, the wife's car needs room for the winter. I'd also be tempted to take it out for a ride on any sunny day!

I have enough room in my garage to store it. I did notice that the local dealer has a special. Indoor storage with unlimited in an out for free if you spend $250 on labor. Not too bad for people who take their bike to the dealer and need storage.

in the winter my bike sits in the same place as in the summer.. it just waits longer between rides. i have never winterized my bikes.. i do try to put a charger on about once a month..

at the last bike shop i wrenched at,i thought the service manager was nuts when he brought me the first bike to winterize.. winterizing is for boats when you drain the water out of the block and fog the cylinders because of the inherent moisture in the bilge... it is just a excuse for cycle service depts to stretch income into the slow early winter months.. the only exceptions is when the bike is going into storage for long periods.. winter is only 3-4 months long

What do ya'll mean by winter storage ? I'm confused. Don't you ride it? Just kidding but we southerners can (and I do) ride ours all winter. And we can golf all winter if we want.
Just messing with ya'll.

I'd love to winterize mine by riding it down south...FL or TX come to mind...

Fortunately I have the capability to store all of my bikes in my atttached garage (but two vehicles must go to storage
I keep bottled water in the garage and it has never frozen so it can't be too cold in the garage.
All of the bikes are off of the ground, plugged into a battery tender and are covered with light, cotton tablecloths.
Once the snow lies (and salt is on the roads) the bikes never see the road again until after the rains start and wash the salt off the roads

Unfortunately, I live on a dirt/gravel road (short distance) and it is unlikely that I we will have a dry enough winter to allow me to ride.

Bummer!
