Default Traded in the Softail Slim for a Street Glide today.

Loved the Slim but really needed some bags, 2up use-fullness, and wind protection.Went from a 2012 black Slim denim to a 2012 black denim Glide. I think a taller windscreen is first thing on my list to be purchased. I'll get some pics posted in a bit. These baggers come with a free AARP membership right?

Slim is nice, but you'll love the SG. I traded my Street Bob for my SG and it was the best decision I've made in a while...

Congrats. Streetglide is a nice bike. Windscreen and some highways pegs are good first mods.

I sure hope you didn't take TOO much of a soaking on trade-in.

Sounds like me man. I traded my Lo for a SG Wednesday and love it, even in 40* weather.

I think I did alright on the trade. I paid about 15k for the Slim. They gave me 14.5k for it. I save 1450 in taxes.(10% in WA) So... I think that works out to about 16k for the Slim. I paid 21.5 for the SG. It has cruise and that's about it. They gave me $500 in store credit and 50% off my 1k service. I feel like I got a good deal on a 2013 bike. My Slim has 2220 miles on it. The dealer treats me like a King so there is some value in that.

On a side note. I came very very close to dropping it within 10 minutes of owning. I had the fork turned and hit the front brake as I was pulling into a parking spot. The nose dove and it started to go over. Took all my strength to keep it from going down. Those dual disk brembos have about 150000% more stopping power than that single disk system on my Slim. Combine that with a way higher center of gravity and it was almost a disaster. Still trying to get over my fear of scraping the floor boards on every corner. I'm starting to realize I can actually lean this bike over a little bit in the twisties... it's fun. I do miss the narrow seat on the slim and the rock solid idle. I'll be shopping for a seat and something to give the exhaust more growl.

Yep.....slow speed turns....hit front brake and it basically drags the bike to the ground.

Brembo's are no joke.
