Upgrade 2004 front brakes to Brembos?
Been thinking about upgrading my 2004 Road King brake system, which is running DOT5 fluid and rubber lines. At first I was thinking about just replacing the lines, but when I looked at the cost of that I figured I could spend maybe a few bucks more and just get a set of used 2008+ Brembo calipers and steel lines with the DOT4 fluid.
Question is, is that a straight swap - will the those newer style calipers bolt right on to my 2004 fork legs? Will they work with the 2004 disks? Will the newer reservoir fit where the old one was, no mods?
Thanks for any info!

It should be the same, however there is a piece of the puzzle you are missing. First off get braided lines. It will be well worth it as they do not flex like rubber and will provide a much firmer brake. Second, the Brembo's are designed to use 11.8" rotors so you might want to pick some of those up. You can use your 11.5 but part of teh pad will not be used which seems like a waste to me.
My Dyna has Brembo bagger calipers. Steel braided brake lines. Lyndall Carbon composite 11.8" rotors and Lyndall gold pads which are required for Lyndall to honor their lifetime warranty on these rotors for the first set of pads. I can stop with one finger like a sport bike if I w want with this set up. Our VROD has the same setup and stop even better as the master cylinder is a little bit different.
