Default Michelin Commander iii tire pressure question

Just purchased a set of Michelin Commander ii for my 2009 Ultra Classic. I have been running Dunlop 408/407 using 35 psi front \ 40 psi rear. Does anyone know what psi Michelin recommends for their Commander ii tires?
What I have read about this subject and it ranges all over the place from 35/40 to as much as 42/42 front and rear. The sidewall in the Cii states 42 psi max...but that is max. Any first hand info at there??

I spoke with Michelin directly. "We recommend whatever the manufacturer of your motorcycle specifies in your owners manual" was their politically correct answer....

The tire manufactures don't specify the psi for a said vehicle, its the vehicle manufacture. Just run what the book tells you to

I'm running 38 front and 40 rear on both my Heritage and on my Road King...

With 5000 miles on them on the Heritage, down to 6/32's (9/32's new) tread depth front and rear. about 1/3 of the miles have been local fun riding and every day driving, 1/3 long weekend trips to ride the twisites and 1/3 on a long haul, 8 days to Arkanasa for BB&B by way of Hot Springs. LOVE the way they ride and GRAB the road!

I got the same response when I contacted Dunlop about the E III's. I suspect any tire manufacturer will say the same.

That is not good advice! It is fine when fitting the same tyres as supplied on the vehicle when new, but not if changing to an alternative tyre or brand. Always check the tyre manufacturer's website. Some brands, including my own favourite Avon, may use quite different pressures. In this case it seems Michelin recommends the same as in the owners manual, but that should not be assumed.

Michelin website does not give a recommended psi that I can find anyway.

Look on th side of the tire and find the max PSI. Run it close to that (within a few pounds) for the best life. On my Dyna with the Com II's I run 40 front and 42 rear. Ignore the Harley pressures in the manual as those are for the stock Dunlops which are a completely different tire.

You could email them. When I have had tyre queries Avon has always answered promptly, I would hope the other brands do too!
