Default The S&S T124 vs the 120R thread

I am currently doing the T124 build in a 2012 Road Glide Custom. I will be taking photos as the build progresses and I'll post dyno sheets after I tune it. The engine is being built and having the crank welded and I plan to juice it up with nitrous after break in etc. I also have a 120R build going right now that will be getting a Baker OD6 tranny behind it. This build is being done on a 2002 Screamin Eagle Road King. It will be fun to see how these two compare to each other. If you have either of these two builds, post up your dyno sheets and give feedback on the driveabilty etc here.

I know you said 120R build, but is it a crate motor, or will it be getting the same bottom end treatment as the 124.

The 120R is in crate form for now. I did remove the heads and install manual compression releases and I've upgraded the lifters and installed adjustable .120 wall pushrods. This bike is getting a pretty good chunk of money dumped into it to get the project really kicked off. We will be doing a Baker +1 oil pan on this build, the Baker OD6 tranny, the Baker KKK clutch, an Ultra Cool oil cooler and a Bassani 2-1 ceramic coated pipe. After getting everything installed and getting it on the dyno, we may play with different cams but I am considering a 4 degree advance key on the stock SE-266E cams. I have no plans for any crank service to be performed on the 120R. The SE flywheels are a 70 ton press fit and the plans are nothing more to be done on this build in terms of performance. I have considered some light port work and possible cam change options but other than that, no plans.

The S&S T124 will most likely receive a nitrous system. I will be using the stock Super Stock heads that come with the crate engine to start with and may do some port work on them in the future but not to start with. I am undecided on whether I will do a wet setup on nitrous or a dry system. I am working on putting a nitrous kit together but looking at all options and pros and cons to each system. This bike will be getting a 66mm throttle body and a Dragula Fang series pipe as well as a Baker +1.5 pan and I am undecided on the clutch for this build. We are the first shop in the world to couple this pipe to this engine with a welded crank and a NOS system.

70 ton press fit alleviates alot of concern, but that lefty bearing is still a ball bearing.....not really known for taking much power.

Have the prices come off on the 120R's much? are they still 5500 ish?

if you order from a discount dealer ie lakeshore H, Newcastle HD you can get them delivered to the door for about 5k. but as of 1st of the year it's rumored there will no longer be online discounts from Harley dealerships. just a rumor.
