Default Question about touring air shocks (oil and weight of oil related)

I have a set of touring shocks off of an 07 and want to refill the oil. How much oil per shock and what weight goes in them. Do they just take fork oil? Thanks in advance

The service manual doesn't give the answer, it only mentions:
  • NOTE
Never lay the shock absorber down. Always keep the shock absorber upright in a fully vertical position. Laying the shock absorber down with the air line removed can cause the oil to drain out through the compression fitting.

Now you officially know you can recuperate the oil in a bottle using the air line. If you keep the shock head down and inflate it, with time the air should reach above the oil bath and help to flush it out.

You can buy Amsoil shock oil.
Also do a search here, there are many threads on how to change the oil.

Without addressing fork issues (diving, wallowing and poor performance), adding heavier weight oil masks some of the problems while making others worse. You should go for emulators and new springs to really feel a great setup or at least as good as it can be.
