Default Speaker/Amp Install Now Speakers Hiss

Hello, just installed the J&M Rocker XT's in the front and rear of my Ultra. I also installed the J&M 250 watt amp. Now when I turn the ignition on the front speakers hiss and have a high frequency squeal. It is not loud but its there. It does this even with the radio off. I have a call into J&M and waiting for them to call me back. Any ideas? Thanks

I have the same problem with my Hogtunes amp.
Radio off, ignition on, noise through the speakers.

Even when the radio is off, the amp is still powering the speakers.
There is some kind of RF "noise" emitted from the amp and coming through the speakers.
Once I start up the bike I don't hear the noise in the speakers anyway, so I haven't been too concerned with it.

Not sure how to resolve it though.......

Check the ground wire. I have my amp grounded right to the battery and dont have any noise.

Talked to J&M and they said the hiss is normal with amped speakers. I'll just live with it. It's not loud, I was just more worried that I hooked something up wrong.

I will check the ground but the instructions say do not use negative side of battery for ground.

Move your speaker wires away from all power sources and power wires.

You don't have to live with it. It is a ground problem. You are getting noise from the engines electrical system. Try moving the ground.

Is there a better ground? The instructions had me ground at the post on the frame right in front of the negative batter terminal. Thanks

Ground it to the negative battery post.
Or if you want a shorter ground there is a ground screw on the left side of your forks, but you will need to grind off the paint for that to work well.

Why would the instructions say to NOT ground to the neg battery post? It seems like the best place to me.
