Default Touring Old and New Adjustable Backrest

I have a 2011 Electra Glide. I know you need a different adjustable bottom base bracket for the newer touring models 09 fwd and I just bought the adjustable bottom base bracket used on ebay. Now I need to buy the actual rider back pad (top part). It can be purchased from Harley separate from the base bracket (bottom part), and from what I can see from the Harley site, the top backrest pad will fit into the older models bottom base bracket and the newer models bottom base bracket. However when you look at these top backrest pads (part I want to buy) on any web site they never show the top backrest pad except already inserted into the base bracket, so you can't see what the insert part looks like.

Here is my problem, when I look on ebay under touring backrest pads, I see the top rider pads configured differently at the bottom where you would click them into the base. Some are flat with two screw holes, and some (like my friends new one) has an angled base almost going to a point where it clicks in. Will both of these type backrests fit into the 09 forward new adjustable base bracket? They both alway claim they are backrests for touring models and fit all touring models.

By the way, if you are selling an adjustable backrest pad for a touring bike, let me know.

I have been down this road, the old style pad will not fit the new style mount without modifying it. which I did and is easy to do with a 4" angle grinder

You need the one with the notch in the side not the two hole version. But I'm sure one of us could send you a template to modify the old style. No biggy.

I have a 11 FLHTK with adjustable backrest and it has the angled bracket with a notch on the side where it lockes in.

I just checked mine on my 2011 RGU and it is angled with a notch. I would think the other model could be modified with a little work.
