Default Post ape install problems

Installed 10" Mbb apes couple weeks ago. Rode about 60 miles and now I get poor throttle response. Check engine light comes on after starting and revving about 4-5 times and then I lose all throttle response. I did cut out the green tbw connector. Is my issue those wires likely?

Sounds like a short or bad connection in the tbw, for that sized bar though, standard wiring should have worked fine.

I know I read somewhere that if you cut the TBW wires and attempt to re-solder them back together that it will cause problems. You may just have to buy a new TBW cable and replace it.

The TBW sensor may have just gone bad, strictly by coinsidence.

I cut the green connecter out and soldered them when I did my bars. 10,000+ miles later still fine, knock on wood.

Maybe a pin going into the connecter wasn't quite seated all the way into the connecter.

I would say it is likely your issue. But before tearing apart your bars I would check the pins on the throttle body as those have had issues in the past.

i get an intermittent failure of the cruise control and when i read the ecm it said the front brake switch was on. i cleared it and everything works great and a few weeks later same issue dont know if its actually the switch or a short in the wire from when the dealer installed the handlebars

No the ones that are on the throttle body itself. Again I dont think that is your problem, but it is a 2 second check. Usually you can bet that the last thing you did is the source. But the throttle body pins have been a problem with our bikes before. It could be a coincidence you never know. Good luck

Cutting and soldering should not be the problem. Check that the plugs are correct all the way down the line. Check for bare spots or nicks in the btw wiring. Sometime you can leave a bur when soldering that will poke through the shrink and short to the bar. If you're not careful you can also screw the sensor by pulling on the wires too hard. Sorry you're having trouble.

Yes check the wiring on the tbw and could be a short. I had wires crisscrossed so mine didn't work at all
