Default Correct exhaust gasket for Fuel Moto header pipe???

I'm finishing my 107 build and decided to replace the existing exhaust gaskets located in the heads. I had previously removed the stock exhaust header and installed the Fuel Moto 2-1-2 header, without replacing the OEM gaskets, so I thought a replacement might be in order.

I went to the dealership and purchased a new set of OEM gaskets (not Screamin' Eagle) and noticed that they are flat on one end (to fit flush against the head) and tapered on the other end (so that the stock header pipe, which is also tapered) will easily fit inside the gasket.

The Fuel Moto 2-1-2 head pipe doesn't have a tapered end where it mates to the gasket, it is basically "flat" or "blunt", which is why the gaskets that I removed from the heads were "crushed" flat (the taper was gone).

Should I just go ahead and use the OEM gasket and let the head pipe "crush" the tapered end of the gasket?

or

Should I trim the tapered area off of the OEM gasket so that the head pipe fits flush against it?

or

Do I need another type of gasket?

Why not give Jamie or one his ppl a call at FM on their 800 line. I'm sure they would steer you in the right direction. I read somewhere that using the SE gaskets worked better but can't be sure. This way you get it right from the source. JMHO>

I read somewhere on here about this issue. From what I remember, the OEM stock gasket is the right one for the FM 2-1-2. Not the Screaming Eagle gasket. I'm sure someone will chime in with experience on these pipes.

As listed in the Jackpot installation instructions you can either use the factory tapered gaskets which allow the flat billet collar to engage into the outer circumference, or we also offer an optional Fuel Moto flat gasket as well. Either gasket will work. Note: you cannot use the flat SE gaskets as they are too thin an will affect the fitment of the exhaust system and clearance at the cam cover.

The Screaming Eagle flat gasket is not recommended with the Jackpot header. Stock conical or the Fuel Moto flat Gasket.

Yeah, what they said above. I dont have the FM pipes, but I do have the aftermarket Cobra pipes and I just bought a set of the oem $10 gaskets, installed em and havent had any issues since. Good luck

I called Keith at your shop this morning and received the same response, so I proceeded to install the exhaust with the tapered gaskets.

Thanks Jamie!
