Default Inch pound Foot Pounds

For those of us who are not gear heads; Have you ever read the service manual and you have to convert inch pounds to foot pounds or foot pounds to inch pounds? As you blankly stare at the instructions wondering how to convert the equation here is a simple formula;

Inch pounds to foot pounds: divide x 12 (240 IP / 12= 20 FP)
Foot pounds to Inch pounds: Multiply x12 (20 FP x 12=240 IP)

Before someone out there says everybody knows that…are you a dummy! The answer is YES. Some of us do not know jack about these things so this information is for all of us who do not know jack. The smart one out there, please do not flame us dummies...we are trying to learn.

Or you could have both types of wrenches.

Remember also that most wrenches are good down only to the 20% of full scale point. Don't want to use them below 20% of full scale.

No flaming here, but anyone using this forum very likely uses Google on a regular basis. Google is your friend and finding that answer is only a couple of clicks away.
That is why some may get flamed a bit for staring blankly at their torque wrench silently pondering how to convert in/lb to ft/lb and then posting their confusion on a forum.

There's a few good unit converter apps out there for smart phones as well, doing math hurts my head.

I use Nm instead of any of that. cause you dont have to do any converting at all. My craftsman in lb tq wrench does both jobs since it has a Nm readout
