Default Passenger Peg Alignment?

I have a rather unusual and possibly stupid question, but here goes:

Since my wife rarely rides with me, I decided to remove the passenger footboards as IMHO, they definitely take away from the look of my '12 FLHX. At any rate, I go get a couple more Willie G pegs so that the passenger pegs match the rest of the bike, I intstall them on the factory mounts, and install the factory mounts back on the bike; I then rotate and tighten the pegs properly to have them level when lowered. Here is my issue/question:

I noticed when I looked over the rear of the bike at the pegs and mounts that they are not exactly symmetrical/mirror images of each other with regard to positioning on the bike. You'd never notice while looking at just one side of the bike, but when looking at them the way I did, you can certainly tell. It seems to me there is only one way to mount them, so I don't see how I could adjust them to be exactly the same. Am I missing something here, or is this just the way it is?... Thanks.

Unusal... maybe, Stupid...no. Maybe something to do with the frame configuation. Maybe you used different mounting holes for height. Since I've never ridden back there and my girfriend has never mentioned anything, I never really noticed. Since my bike is still in storage,
(getting it out this week) I'll have to look when I get it home.

I used the same "top hole" to mount them on both sides, then each mount has a little "stud" that fits into the hole below it to line it up. I can't figure out what the deal is, other than I'm an ****-retentive freak...

Was there any offset in the foot board mounts? Pictures would be good.
Where's do you see the difference, folded up or out?

What are you using for the reference point?

Understand HD's tolerances are pretty loose.

So, how much of a via ce have you measured?

I'm a neurotic bastage myself. Is it possible their not going to be exactly the same since there's a primary cover on the left side and not a whole lot on the right.

I think this may be it. I want someone else who has never removed their pegs from a FLHX to let me know if they have perfect symmetry when looking over the rear of the bike...

I went to the dealership this last week, and I'll be doggone if all of the new ones weren't exactly as mine is. Look over the back of the bike with the pegs folded; you'll see what I mean. Anyway, I guess there is no issue; that's the way they are designed/supposed to be...
