Clutch adjustment 2006 Street Glide
I posted this in a the primary clutch section and did not get a response.
Need some help on a clutch adustment. Was following directions form the manual and was at a point after adjusting the adjuster screw and tightening the locknut bolt.
I squeesed the clutch level per the manual three times and now am turning the adjuster cable to squeese the play out. The problem is I cannot get the play out. If fact the adjuster is coming off the thread as move it away from the adjuster nut.
Can anyone help me. I tried several times to to reset and try again, but nothing seems to work.
Any advise for me. Thanks

adjust clutch
You must adjust clutch under the derby cover first.
The cover on left side has five torx screws in it.
There you will find your clutch.
This must be adjusted first after releaseing the
tension off the cable.
After adjustment is done to clutch basket then do your cable.

Are you suggesting I go back and re-do (i have a few times). Unless I am misunderstanding I already have the derby cover off and have adjusted the adjuster screw and locknut (see my first thread). This must be the clutch basket you are refering to (I assume left side is derby/shift gear side).
After I do this I still cannot get it fully tightened.

So you unlocked the locknut, brought the set screw up to touch, backed off 1/4 turn, locked the locknut, and now are trying to get the slack out of the cable by screwing the cable away from the handle and are having trouble with not getting the correct amount of free play at the lever, correct?
If this is the case, I still suspect the actuator under the right cover has come apart. Pretty rare, I think, but has happened.
