help please Road king shut off

So I was drive today, normal and in the trafic where was go-stop go -stop, my bike just shut off. I couldn't start any more. so I wait fo 15 min, and start again drive around 5 miles and it shut off again when I change gear from high to low, so again I wait for 20 min start again and drive another 5 miles again shut off. I left him 1 hour to cool of start and drive 5 miles again and again shut off. every time when I change gear from high to low. Just shut off. After some time like 30min he will start but won't drive very long. Does any body know what is the problem?

Is it EFI or Carb?

Sounds like a fuel starvation issue. Any codes? Have you considered changing your fuel filter?

Give us more info.....year, miles, was it really hot before it shut down etc? it sounds like your ECM is shutting things down because it got really really hot and cooked something...... should be brought in for diagnostics. I'd have it towed and wouldn't start it again till it's been checked. I avoid doing any kind of sitting in traffic short of driving on the sidewalk (which I've actually done). If your not getting air across those jugs your going to cook shit.....

Shot in the dark, maybe try cleaning the I.A.C.

Older bikes like mine had a main ciruit breaker issue where it would shut done till the thermal breaker cooled. Mine shut off twice before it was replaced about 4 years ago.

When you say shut off you mean like if you turned off the run switch or did the engine kill. Try this next time try opening your gas cap and see if it had a vacuume. Then try to start it. Simple things first.

Great intro & working with very "limited" input...not gonna get a "root-cause" response here.

Need to give more to go on (bike, year, add-on's, new/old fuel, maint., recent upgrades)...throw us a bone...
