does decel popping cause dammage?

I purchased a set of Full Boar slip-ons from J&P Cycles. Got the 2in baffles. They sound great. I don't know if they effect fuel mileage yet, I have not been running them that long. The bike is otherwise stock it is a 09 Classic so no cat. I do get some decel popping, not backfires. There are no air leaks. I understand these bikes are set up a little lean, can the pipes make this worse? What can I do to fix it? The dealer re-mapping, is that expensive? The popping doesn't really bother me it isn't loud. They also have smaller baffles (1.75in), would this be better as it would increase backpressure and decrease air flow back in the pipes?

Yes, to most of your questions. It indicates a lean condition and it can damage your engine. Get an air cleaner, and a good tuning system and a spot on map. Then ride the hell out of it!
