If you get the spacers wrong, the caliper will not align with the brake rotor. But even more important and not trying to be a jerk, I sure hope you know the proper torque on the fasteners and the procedure on how to tighten the axle caps. Do not guess.

Right side is the big end of the axle.

Yes. That's why I stated that the big end of the axle is the right side. Nut goes on the left. If you don't have manual get one. I have a Clymer. It's seems to be OK.

Good advice here.

Wanna know how I know it's good advice?

I over tightened and broke the stud on my bike. Got real lucky changing it out, but learned a good lesson about adhering to torque specs. And not guessing!

If you are 60 years old, you probably remember the tests you had to take in high school. They were called the Iowa Tests of Basic Skills.

I scored at the high 90's, except for 'conceptual ability.' Remember the diagrams of a blown up box, and you had to "conceptualize" what it looked liked put back together? Well, I couldn't.

I learned through the years that when I took something apart, to lay the pieces out in the order that I removed them. Put them back in the reverse order.

Problem solved.

On all motor vehicles, left is always as you sit on or in the vehicle. If you stand in front of the bike,or car,or pickup-to your left is the RIGHT side, always. Part numbers are even numbers for right, odd numbers for left.
