2014 limited cb mic question
#51
I have a cb related question while we wait for a handheld option. When you pushed the ptt on the cb and talk, I used to be able to hear my own voice during the transmission on my 2010. I have the 2014 now and I cannot hear my voice thru it. Is this normal? Is there a setting to get that changed. Its hard to judge my transmission quality without it.

meet me at 7-11 in the morning and pick up yer donut. You mean the handlebar mechanical PTT switch now has a circuit board to convert an open/close switch circuit into a data buss signal?

Harleydude's method works, but here's what I found. The CB works properly if it is switched on after the bike is started. The problem occurs when the CB is left on and the bike is shut down. Upon restarting with the CB still switched on, you will not have the feedback through your headset. The workaround is to switch the CB off, then back on after starting the bike, or turn it off before shutting down, then turn back on after starting the bike.

I had the CB/PPT switch installed a couple months ago. Pushing the PPT switch and the mic switch at the same time was a PITA especially with the PTT switch now on the right side.
A friend of mine showed me what he did. He took the H-D headset, cut off the speakers and attached a clip to the unit. Now all I have to do is clip it to my jacket and push the PTT switch - problem solved. Only problem is when I don't wear a jacket. I guess I can always clip it to the windshield pouch and just lean forward to talk.
Hardest part was finding a good strong clip. I got a set from Wal Mart. They were listed under resealable bag clips. I just wire tied the clip to the mic unit.
