Default Installing Streamliner Passenger Footboard Inserts on Swept Wing FLHX Footboard

I'm installing (or trying to install) streamliner passenger footboard inserts in swept wing FLHX footboards.

The instructions tell me to use soapy water to moisten the rubber dowel pins and picot pin slots on the bottom of the new footboard insert...sounds reasonable....but I must be missing something as it has proved to be almost an impossible task of driving the pins int to hole...

I know I must be missing something as it cannot be this difficult...any with similar setup?

I use straight up liquid dish detergent on mine. All you need is a couple drops on each one. Then use a pliers from the bottom side of the pan and work each one in a circular pattern until it pops through. Literally it should be about a 5 minute process for each. I sounds like you might be trying to push them through as opposed to pulling them through.

And once you get them pulled through with the pliers, use a rubber mallet to seat them in firmly, especially the edges. Use towel between mallet and floorboard.......
