I just put my 9" smoked one on this week. Purchased the fastaire one off of ebay. Great quality and the ride is better than the 4" stock one.......but the shorty has the look
I cut about 2 and a half inches off my stock windshield. Its fairly straight-forward to do and it turned out as good as factory, IMO. Saved a few bucks.
Fastaire is great to deal with and priced right but remember their shields don't have the protective coating on them like OEM ones. You just have to be careful when cleaning them. Lots of soap and water.
Fastaire is the cheapest way to get the right size shield. If it gets scratched just toss it. If you want to cut yours down you can use masking tape to mark and protect while you use a band saw or jigsaw and then sand the edges smooth.
Cut down the OEM windscreen to the height you want. I used a rotary variable speed Dremel with a 1&1/2" cutoff wheel. A buddy let me use his shorty screen as a template so I could maintain the same curve as stock. I've done it without the template but this method worked great. I blue taped the windscreen in the area to be cut and traced the curve on it with a Sharpie. I practiced cut on the upper section. Slow wheelspeed and continuous movement when cutting prevented melting. It took six to seven passes to complete the cut. Ismoothed the curve with a block sander and finished up with Auto paper that is similar to crocus cloth. I remounted it to do the finish work. It looks stock, I can see over it and Idon'tnotice anymoreturbulence than when it was too tall.
I bought a smoked 9" fast aire for my 99 classic....I bought it on ebay...for the price I was suprised at the quality....I think I paid 35 bucks with the shipping. It was delivered within 5 days and the fit was flawless...It has been on the scooter over a year and still looks brand new!
I believe the guy selling them has an beay store. try Fastaire1 or fastaire one or fastaireone...It was one of these three names... Good luck!
Take a look at mephis shades. www.memphisshades.com.
Glass a little thicker than HD Stock windshield.
I am replacing original with 9.5 " memphis.
Good luck.
