Default Big Blue Pearl Road King touch up paint ?

Got a little chip in the front fender and bought some touch up paint from HD. Came with two bottles, vivid black and a bottle that says big blue pearl that is clear with pearl in the clear coat, looks transparent.

The dealer checked and swears this is the right kit. They use the black first then apply the pearlized clear. Sounds wrong to me.

Anyone of have Big Blue Pearl touch up paint from HD?

I bought touch up paint a while back for my SG and it's the same thing. Vivid black in one bottle and a clear bottle that says big blue pearl. It's got to be wrong and I can't return it. Hope you get your money back. Somebody must be smoking weed at the paint supply shop.

no, thats the way it is. the big blue pearl is a black basecoat. even though the second bottle looks clear, it isn't.

I thought the same thing when I had the dealer get me some touch up paint for my 2013 Electra Glide Classic at the time of purchase. Looked at the bottles and thought "no way this is right", I was wrong. The black is a "base coat", and then over the black the "big Blue Pearl" shows up when applied over the black base coat. First paint chip I tried to just apply the "Big Blue Pearl" because I still wasn't so sure. It was way too light in color to match. I quickly removed it before it was good and dry. Did the touch up using their directions and it worked like magic, seeing is believing. I took a "flat toothpick" and used some 600-800 grit sand paper to make a sharp point on the toothpick and practiced on a couple of scrap pieces first. I was able to apply a small amount of black to the spot and when it dried it had "shrunk down" into the "chip". Small touch with the "Big Blue Color" and presto...it was fixed!

Do you need to do a certain amount of layers of the clear to get the correct look or is it just one and your done?

Good luck. I bought some for my limited. I've tried to use it, but I can't seem to get the mixture quite right. It looks ok, but it bugs me.

Do I let the black dry first? They were nice at my dealer and took it back but I am going back down to pick it up. The parts guy is awesome and he tried it and said the stuff is fricking magic paint. I owe him lunch as I said no way this is right. I used to work for PPG paint years ago and been to tinting schools and never thought it would work.

I can believe this. Those multiciat colors are crazy. I tried touching up a spot on my ember red color. It's tough
