Default First polish of the FLHX..

Bought the bike in February and this is the first time I have polished it. It had the usual heavy swirls from the dealer wiping it down on the showroom floor plus I wasn't real careful about my washing technique since I hadn't polished it yet. We'll since winter is here I figured I would give the paint some attention.

I used a Porter Cable 7424, Menzerna nano polish and white Lake Country pads. This is my go to combo unless the paint is really bad and needs more aggressive treatment. I only did the fairing and bags because I got lazy so I'll probably finish up tomorrow. Don't mind the dust in the after pics, Menzerna dusts like crazy. Thanks for looking.

I'll post some of the tank after I do it. It has some pretty good swirls that need corrected.

Looks great!!! Nothing beats a fresh detail. I used to use Meguiars pretty much exclusively, until I stumbled upon Royal Blue. Bought it at the Cleveland motorcycle show last winter for the heck of it ($10?) and was blown away. Might have to give the Menzerna a whirl if I stumble across it.

He used a polish and dual action machine to remove the swirls. Waxes and spray waxes are a completely different thing...Great for protecting the paint and keeping it looking good after a polish but, they do nothing to remove swirls, scratches and imperfections...

Exactly, because once it's polished with a cutting product the paint and clear coat need to be protected again. It won't prevent swirls obviously, but it will help make the finish a little more resistant to them as well as other things.
