Question Which cam is best?

I have an 09 SG with a ventilator ac, true dual exhaust with mgs performance mufflers. My next upgrade will be a camshaft. I was decided on the tman 555 torqster. Then I looked at the
Andrews 54h. The can specs are very close. Based on can specs, any idea which is best in real world? Is there even a significant difference? Andrews is a single duration. The 555 is a split duration. What's your thoughts?
TIA,
Mj

If you have a relationship with an independent mechanic, they generally have a 'recipe' of components that work well together as a total package...and the bigger & more important question is how you are building the cumulative components to achieve a certain goa il...so my suggestion would be to start working with an independent if you will not be doing the wrenching yourself.

Biggest difference I see is the intake closing numbers. The Torqster closes 5 degrees before the Andrews does, that would indicate a lower rpm advantage to the Torqster but Andrews should do better in mid to high rpm. If you ride 2 up all the time, I would lean towards the Torqster, otherwise I like the Andrews.

I'm running 54s in my '09 but it is now a 103 @ 10-1. For your 96 the 555s would be the better choice. But I wouldn't use either in a stage 1 96. They both could use more compression. Ya ought to be looking at Andrews 48s if ya are just doing a cam swap.

From Big Boyz website:

2007 - 2013 HD injected

Lift Open Close Duration Overlap

Int .484 -12 30 198
-8
Exh .484 38 4 222

Formating this info for a nice display seems impossible!

the t-man torqster, the Andrews 54, and the tw 222 will all work out about the same. The TW 222 will have the best low end as it has the lowest center line of 100 and lowest overlap of 28. I have seen several 222's in 96's and they work real well. Major difference in the 3 cams is the Andrews 54 will be about $100 cheaper than the others. You would probably like the SE 204 also. The other 3 have .555 lift and the 204 is only .508 lift, but with stock heads you would be hard pressed to tell the difference.

I went with the 54; but I also dropped the output shaft two teeth.
Nice, for me, combination for parking lot handling and quick get away from stop lights fully loaded.
It cruises nicely at around 80 at just over 3000rpm and pushing 45mpg on flats with no head wind.... with good acceleration for passing without shifting.
But that goes with the 107" bore. Not nearly as good response when it was 96" with only the gearing change.

also don't see where anyone mentioned the Andrews 57h. according to dyno charts this is a killer bolt-in 103" bagger cam as well and provides for further improvement later on with a head gasket swap.
