Down side to pipe wrap?

Now that I have de-catted the pipe what would be any drawback to wrapping the pipe then reinstalling the covers? Thinking more protection on the backside especially in the trans and oil pan area.
Cooler is good, I know on a 2stroke anyways keeping the heat in the pipe = more power. I'm sure my motor and legs will thank me.
Am, I nuts??

..huh?..why bother? can't see any benefit from it on a dresser...they won't even be seen right?...don't do it...just a waste of time imo...

Thought about that. Then did research into what was involved vs. gains. Pass.

Just makes them rust out , because you trap the moisture next to the pipe.

I "Micky Mouse" wrapped my stock non-cat '09 header and saw little difference in heat. Did a good wrap job on Fullsac header and have no heat. Can't say if it the header, ceramic coating and/or wrap but it was cheap and few notice it under the shields. Downside is rust if ya ride in the rain/humidity and heat cracks in the tubing over long term but I've never had a problem??

I would either wrap them or use shields. Not both. I wouldn't worry about the rust either. That's just me because they do keep the heat down and I like the look.

As others indicate, biggest issue with pipe wrap is corrosion. Also recommend ceramic coating as better solution for heat reduction.

Good thoughts about the rust. One would have to park it dry every time to ovoid it.
Guess its to bad Harley did not do a good 75% cover to start with.

i wrapped the crossover on stock 07 head pipe, after 1.5 years RUST lots of it.also think the heat soaked the pipe and warped it all out of shape.
