Default Connector pin help

I'm installing new bars and cables on my Street Glide. Need help with getting the pins out of the connectors to run wires internally on the bars. Anyone have a good video on how to do it? I've tried the paper clip and can't get the pins to release out of the connector. Needing help asap, please!

Have you pulled the center section of the connector out towards the end? Pair of needle nose pliers work. Find a piece of solid wire (more solid then a paper clip if possible). Use a pair of vise grips to hold the wire which gives you more leverage. Once you get one out, your get the hang of it.

I bought the pin removal tool. It was expensive for what it is but got a good discount on it and it works like a charm. As stated in previous post, you need to pull the center part back to unlock wires or you will never get them out. Ask me how I know.

I bought the tool also but snapped the wire off the handle....Used the snapped off piece and vise grips and it worked out. The vendor refunded my money, so all is well.

Here is what worked for me... go and buy (if you don't already have somewhere) some diaper pins. The bigger the plastic head on it the better. Now, take the needle end and put a slight bend in the last 1/8th inch of the needle. Slide the end cap and the rubber spacer a couple inches back up the wires. Insert the diaper/safety pin into the wire end of the plug on top of (as opposed to the center portion) underneath the wire and pull both the needle and the wire out at the same time. Forget trying to stick it into that little hole on the pin side of the plug. That is nothing but aggravation. Using a safety pin works easier and you don't need to buy that stupid friggin' $$$ tool.

I use the hexagonal pin tool, has worked well for me, not perfect, but then I use some of the other methods described to get the job done... good tool to have, if you're gonna do any wiring, having the proper tools pays dividends in time and frustration!

Here are some pics to help see what you are dealing with. I pull the white piece out, it's not necessary but it makes it easier. The other pics show how the locking tabs work. This is a different connector but same principal.

Thanks, I wasn't pulling the white piece out and was just trying to stick a pin into the tiny holes to unlock the pins. I'll try to pull it out tonight when I get home.

I just cut the wires, and spliced on the extra wire, no pins to fork with that way...
