Default Brake pad wear

When I had my 2012 RKC 10,000 ml service my dealer pointed out that the brake pads on the left hand front calliper had worn down more than the right and needed replacing. The difference was not all that much with approx 1000 miles wear on the other calliper left. The dealer said this was nothing unusual but I'm not so sure about that. Anyone else ever experienced this sort of thing.

Nope. I just changed the fronts on mine at 31K and they were about 50%. Rear looked better so I left it.

My brakes don't last more than 12 - 13k.

34000, I'm on my 3rd set of brakes. I admittedly ride kind of hard. I do notice that both sides don't wear exactly the same. Not enough of a difference to alarm me though.

You should also remove the pads and clean the pistons in the caliper to ensure that they are sliding in and out of their bores smoothly. Excess brake dust can cause the pistons to stick causing uneven brake pad wear. Use brake cleaner and a wire brush or an old tooth brush and before you put it back together watch the pistons to ensure they slide in out smoothly.

I had the same reaction when I first looked at my front pads. I noticed the pads "look" thin but wear slow. I have 17000 on my 2013 FLHRC and just keep an eye on them.
