I'm replacing my stock black heated hand grips on my 2012 Limited with 2012 Ultra CVO chrome and black grips. My stock left grip has 4 wires, red wire and black wire for power and 2 black with white stripes for the interconnect. The CVO grip has 5 wires a red wire, black wire and a orange with white stripe in one plastic cover and in the other plastic cover there is a black wire and a black wire with a white stripe. I looked in the service manual and it only mentions the red and black wires and the 2 black wires with white stripes.
What is the orange wire for??? On the interconnect does it matter which wire go where?

Orange /White is for switched power. Good question on the black/white wires.

 

This is for the 2014. It appears the two black/white wires do matter

 

Why is there a switched power? Do the CVO's have a switch to turn on the heated grips?

 

Not just the CVO grips. All the other than stock black heated rubber grips have the three wire thing. I just got the Contured heated grips and they also have the same three wires on top of the interconnect wires.

 

Regarding your stock heated grips, do they still work and would you be interested in selling them?
