Getting new meat put on some mags I scored and figured I'd change the bearings out.Didn't want to wait for THE RIGHT bearing puller. So went to Harbor Freight and got this one. http://www.harborfreight.com/blind-h...ler-95987.html
The collet got mangled, kept slipping out and didn't even budge either bearing on 2 different wheels.I figured I could maybe use this and maybe it would come in handy later on something else..What a piece of ****.Hope they'll take it back.If not,oh well.Maybe someone can get something out of this thread.Stay away from this junk.
That tool was not designed for something as substantial and tight as wheel bearings. Small diameter bearings or pilot bushings it would probably work great on but way too light on a bigger bearing. For 15 bucks more you could have had a proper tool that would work.

You're exactly right. This WAS a "vane" attempt to get it done now,as my bikes at work-*** end hanging from a cherry picker-instead of here at home on the lift table.
I bought a cheapish wheel bearing puller a while ago. It didn't suffer any damage, but neither would it remove the bearings! I suspect some serious heat was necessary for success, but concluded it was easier and quicker to get my local Yamaha dealer to do the swap.
Harbor Freight sells a lotta stuff that works just great, but yeah, some of it is junk. I've never had a sand blaster from them work worth a dern, but the soda blaster works outstanding! For something like this, I'd go to K-D Tools or equivalent/better.
