Default engine stumble

I have the 25 degree injector replacement, but still get an occasional stumble / engine 1/2 second cut out when starting off when cold. It provides a real thrill at 2-3 MPH when in the process of making a turn and leaning at the same time your engine cuts off.

Anyone else have a similar problem?

I have a slight stumble right off idle, very slight and only when I pop it quick. Mine started after I put in my PCIII and had it dynoed, I need to get it back to my tuner and see if he can get rid of it.

Mine did the same thing. I have reduced the events by 80% after going into the map and leaning 2, 5 and 10% throttle at 1250 to 1750rpm. As I recall, I leaned them out by about 8 points.

My idea was at what throttle position and rpm does it stumble. Then, either lean or richen that area and both sides of that area. I chose to lean it as I felt the stumble was from a rich conditon. As far as how much to go, I like steps of 8.

I do also, If I let the bike warm up for 5 min or so I don't have a problem. I did by a Revteck fuel module but I have not installed yet, I hope it corrects the lean problem.

It only does it when cold, well since you should let any harley warm up before riding. Just do what you should do and let it warm up. People are in just to dang of a big hurry these days. On my carb bikes you cranked it ,fethered it till it would idle on its own then let it warm up for 5-10 minutes then and only then you could ride off.

Ditto: I have had the same issue ever since I added the PCIII. Throttle position is at zero and I have changed settings richer and leaner with no help. The bike stumbles so bad from a dead stop it almost dies.

Back in December I took the original Fuel Moto map and leaned it from 1k-2k in the interest of increased mileage. I also leaned it in the cruise range (2k-3k RPM @ 0-10%), as shown in the photo (original on top). Since I've had almost no problem with the stuttering or hesitation many are experiencing, perhaps it was leaning this area that keeps things smooth. Once in a blue moon I get a barely perceptible blip right off idle, and if I didn't hear it I wouldn't notice it, as it doesn't impair performance.

Hmmmmmmm, iclick. Looks like we did about the same thing and solved the issue about the same. But, I also notice that your ride is black cherry. So is mine. Probably only the black cherry rides can be fixed using this method. [sm=joke.gif]

So............
1. Try letting the bike warm up a few minutes longer before starting out.
2. A PCIII MAY solve the problem.

My change to 25 degree injectors pretty much eliminated the cough and stall I used to get. Every so often though, I'll get a bit of a hiccup. Usually if the bike is notcompetely warmed up. I don't know if it ever could be completely eliminated. Just the nature of the V-Twin beast.
