Long story short.
Primary noise equals bad primary bearing, shaft and gear.
Thank god I have extended service plan.😭😰😡

 

So's mine. I gotta loud knock at idle that sounds like its coming from the primary area. Unlike you I have no ESP and no money to take it in to be fixed so it sits in the garage where its been all winter. Only rode it twice this spring when I noticed the knock. Last time it was louder. So I won't ride it again till I get it fixed. Maybe a long summer without it.

 

How many miles did you get on it before it went out?

Just went through that on Dad's 09 Ultra. Keep riding and it will get expensive. He lost the IPB, mainshaft and a gear cluster. $1,200 fix. Just IPB would have been under $400.

Why not take the primary cover off and have a look? Could be something simple and there is plenty of good guys on this forum willing to help.
