HELP PLEASE... DRIVER'S BACKREST

2007 FLHX....... went to crank ..... My battery isshot !!!!
Started pulling everything off to get to it... Disconnected rear speakers... removed the Tour-Pak... THEN IT HIT ME.

I have NO IDEA how to remove my driver's backrest -----

What an idiot I feel like asking this question.

I am assuming there is some sort of qucik release that must be pushed or pulled??

Please help.... THANKS

Pulled....from behind the steel upright. Just stick 2 fingers pointing down into the slot along the upright. It's a pretty strong spring.

i squeeze the 2 sides together and pull up. it's a little tough to squeeze, but it will come out. You may have to repeat if you don't hold on the the backrest until it's completely out. putting in is a trick too if you want it in one of the 2 lower positions; gotta squeeze or push hard on one side.

Good luck!!

not busting on you....the stupid questions are the ones not asked then trar somthing up in the process....but I wish this forum would allow more postings on the DIY section for simple things like this. I was talking to a co-worker yesterday on a similar topic. Many people are not very mechanically minded...not saying we all can rebuild a crb in our sleep, but for the soetime simple things that are just a pain to figure out.

The squeeze is a little tricky, but once you get used to it not bad.

Funny how stuff likes this pops up. Just put a rider backrest on mine. Knew it was spring-loaded and I'd have to squeeze it to get it up (did that last night), but it's still fun to read this morning was something you were screwing with last night.
What I didn't realize by having the backrest on was how forward that moved me. Apparently, I've been laying back on the seat more than I would have realized.:D

Rear speakers on FLHX? Do you have the Ultra Classicstyle speakers or a different setup?

I had the Ultra speakers installed. Speaker wires have quick disconnect plugs that just slip into the boxes.
