Default helmets in the rain

I currently have a modular full face helmet and it does a pretty good job of keeping rain off my face. I guess that's stating the obvious . However, when it's not raining I like to feel the wind on my face. I can lift the shield and/or the whole modular part but it catches the wind and rattles quite a bit.

So.....I'm considering getting a 3/4 helmet with face shield (flip up as well as removable) and I was wondering how good this type of helmet is for keeping rain off of your face. Anyone have or tried both?

Thanks for your time.

I have tried million helmets, I like to have it minimalistic and also be able to ride in the rain.
Here are my findings. 3/4 with the face shield are not good in the rain because rain drops creep up the inner side of the shield and I have to stop to wipe it (cannot be done while riding). So I am trying a new MODULAR helmet every season, I love the idea of having 2 or more helmets in one) So far I tried Nolan N43 and N44, Shark Evoline, Roof Boxer, Roof Desmo and FINALLY I am happy with Airoh J106.
It is as close to open face in 3/4 configuration, it is SMALL and thin, no mushroom head, it is light, it has all the gizmos (bluetooth, internal sunvisor, pinlock, great ventilation, removable liner). What makes it better then others I tried is that in closed (full face) configuration, it does not fog in the rain! Even without pin lock.
I know its too good to be true, but the only bad thing about this helmet is wind noise.

Timusa has it right. I have been riding with a 3/4. On tour, I keep a flip up face shield in the saddle bag and put it on when the skies turn dark. It does an acceptable job in a slight rain but not so good in a downpour. The seal where it snaps on is not so tight and water leaks behind the shield. Then I am looking through two layers of wet: wet eyeglasses and wet face shield. Not so good. This year I'll be taking the full face. It is much better in the rain.

Thanks for the replies. The "rain creeping up inside" description was my main concern. Guess I'll stick with the modular.

Shark Evoline, best of both worlds. It's my go to helmet.

I traded a helmet I had for a HD helmet 4-6 weeks ago. It's a 3/4 with a face shield and flip down "sunglasses". It's 90% wind free on my face and the sunglasses work better than I thought. I wear real glasses and the flip down doesn't interfere with them.

The thing I really like is in strong winds, my head doesn't bounce around like it did with my old round helmet. Maybe it's the shape on the HD one that makes it aerodynamic.

I have a tour pack and most of the time I carry two helmets.I have a cheap Hawk modular and an Outlaw 3/4 with a set of goggles that fit over my glasses. When the weather's nice I wear the 3/4 when it's not so nice the modular. Also have the Harley headset in the modular so I can drown out the wind noise with music and hear my wife on the intercom. Here's an old trick to keep your face shield from fogging up, polish the inside of your visor with dish soap,no water, that will keep it fog free for a couple of weeks at a time.Polish the outside of your face shield with just about any wax and that will help water run off of it.

Hey Chickin, do you have a photo or part # for your new helmet?
