Commander II's
 

Just had them installed front and rear on my street glide. Way better handling and ride than the Dunlops ever were. Put about 300 miles on them this weekend and am well pleased. Also installed new brake pads while I was at it-glad I did as I almost got smashed as a cage blew a redlite. Locked em up-almost went down-almost hit the car-almost. But the Good Lord was watching out for me as always and got stopped just in time and stayed upright. Amazing. My wife was behind me on her fatboy. She said she thought I was a gonner. Just a part of riding I reckon. Hey be safe Ya'll.

I did also put them on my wifes fatboy last year. She has no complaints about them.

How many miles on the stock dunlops? what was worse about them.?
I mean any new tire will be night and day better than the old worn out one.
Just trying to understand how this decision is made.

I had little over 12,000 miles on the Dunlops. The rear was slick, front would have been ok for a while. The Dunlops never felt as sticky or as firmly planted on the road even when new as these commanders do. I may try the Dunlop Elites next time, only because I like to buy USA made products. These commanders are made in Korea. I really don't think I will ever buy Dunlop 402 series tires again. I have had them on other bikes- didn't like them then either. Hope this helps.

Recently replaced the rear which was worn in the center and cupped nearing the end at approx. 30k km (20k miles). never had an issue with OEM so stayed with it. Front lasted 42k km, now on the 2nd front.
So my recent experience is on oem where the new tire felt better than the worn out one replaced.
No issues over the life of tire so had no reason to switch for improvement.

It is not possible to run different brands at the same time from new as a comparison. any new tire will feel better than the replaced old one. So how do you compare, how do you remember what the old tire felt like 5-15k ago?

stickier tires do not last as long, at least that has been agreed on.

What year is your bike hdsg? I'm thinking pre-2009 since you're talking 402s. Post-2009 Dunlops are a totally different animal with better grip and wear.

so right, should have mentioned that as well. There is a known improvement with replacements for pre 09. The Dunlop elite has some it appears with the post 09 center hard thread.
