Hello All,

I have searched and read many threads; However, I still need some help if possible.

Last year, I installed 12" Yaffe bars on my 2013 Street Glide, new break and clutch cables ( drag specialties) etc.

My clutch isn't very smooth when cold and very stiff.

Questions:

1. What is the correct length of cable ( incase, I need to get a better cable ) to make sure it's not binding?
2. Ezpull device, Do I need a shorter cable to make up for the unit length.
3. I will recheck the routing look for binding points ( I put it back in the stock location )

I am concerned that it should be smoother and not so hard to pull.

I would do a clutch adjustment first and go from there?

the cable may be binding inside the cable "jacket".

any bike shop will have a cable lube- if you collapse the cable adjuster, you'll be able to get the lube adapter around the cable up by the lever and spray the lube into the adapter...it is forced down the cable.

the harley ez pull is on 07+ models- this is just a longer lever in the tranny end cover- this makes clutch adjustment more critical and slightly more difficult for the novice.
the ez pull is similar to the ez boy lite boy which preceeded it by 20 years. ( and the best $26 i ever spent on an evo)

cable routing- gentle bends.

DANGER ensure that you cable cannot hang up on anything when you turn the bars--- we had a guy here a few years ago who had a big loop of excess cable...it got hung up on his turn signal and restricted bar movement. he crashed.

I will ask my local guy or do it myself. Its a brand new cable bought in august 13, I will post some pictures of the routing tonight to see if maybe I am bending it too sharp
. It's a SST over braided cable

I can see how as the cable must go through the faring.

 

back February I brought over 12 inch monkeys with cables and a LOT OF OTHER STUFF to my brother in Holland (Europe). included Drag specialties clutch cable as the one I got was suddenly 40 bucks more...
His clutch was heavy too and after checking all the stuff mentioned - clutch adjustment, "reroute", and even laying down the cable in a straight line and checking via old handlebar (was fine in that setup but a bit hard to ride right ) etc it came down to lubing the cable... now he is totally fine (he compared to another '13 fatbob).
I even believe dealer will lube OEM during maintenance (if they do!) according manual...

I will head over to the dealer and get some cable lube tomorrow and give you guys an update over the weekend.

Seriously, this forum is awesome. I have learned so many tips and tricks. I would be at the mercy of the "stealership" without it.

 

don't go to the dealer for cable lube- just go to any bike shop.

I've been using the same can of PetroChem Cable Life since the 80's

Cycle Gear chain store carries the PJ1 cable lube- the important part is that you get the cable adapter

Bike Shop? Pedal Bike or Honda or Yamaha dealer? lol

I have owned several bike in my life, performed most if not all the mods and upgrades, I have never needed to lube a cable lol.

 

I just finished lubing the cable with Bike-Aid.. I cannot believe I have been riding like that.
