jagg fan 10 row fan assist shorting any tips?
Noticed a strange issue this morning after a 50 mile ride. I parked and my jagg oil cooler fan was on. I turned the handle bars left and the fan stopped. I turned the handle bars right and the fan turned on.
I moved the clutch cable by hand where it passes the engine guard by the frame and neck and the fan dropped spinning at full speed but still spun but at a slightly lower speed. When I let go of the cable the fan returned to normal.
I had the fan/ oil cooler installed last year in may and was told that the fan gets its power from the rear brake light source and confirmed with jagg they install a piggy back connector there. And it won't harm the bike just may blow a fuse and lose my brake light. Jagg said the fan is grounded at the bracket attached to the frame. Has anyone here had an issue like this.

IF a rubbermounted drivetrain looses it's ground- the clutch cable becomes the new ground
( more than one owner has had smoke from the clutch cable when starting).
so I would run a ground strap from a point on the motor to the battery- and see it the clutch cable phenomenon changes.
2.) it is near-idiotic to screw with the brake light scheme.
no accessory should be designed to run off the brake light power--- if it blows you get a Hummer on your pass seat...not the kind of hummer you want.
if this is actually designed like this from the manufacturer- jagg is open to a huge lawsuit by the survivors of the first guy killed.
I'd rewire that on it's own circuit, which is easy to do- someone was lazy

Thanks Mike. I looked up the install instructions on jaggs website prior to posting this thread and sure as heck shows a piggy back connector that goes in line on the rear brake switch for power source. I was amazed when I read that.
Based on what you said I am thinking my bike must have lost its ground connection. Incidentally the engine (S&S 124) was turned off but the ignition switch was left on for the fan too finish cooling when I noticed the above mentioned problems.

Should be easy to troubleshoot this one, it's only two wires. Follow your wires with your fingers until you feel the break or the bare spot. Wrap some electrical tape around the bare spot or cut it out and splice the wire. Secure wires so they don't get pinched again. I live in TX and I don't run a fan assist on my Jagg so you'll be OK even if your fan is inoperative.

some riders add a ground strap from a starter bolt to the frame or to the battery - a pretty good idea.
that may not be your issue, but when you described things changing as you move the clutch cable that comes to mind.
as far as the fan - you WILL want it working in Sturgis.
Sturgis makes the 880 at rush look like the indy 500.
I'd really suggest that you talk to jagg about this and figure out a different wiring scheme.
jagg has made alot of good stuff but this power scheme...confuses the heck out of me
