Default MPG of 6 speed vs 5 speed

You 07ers who used to have a 5 speed Harley - I was wondering if you 07ers get any better mpg with your new 6 speed tranny, as compared to when you had the 5 speed tranny.

I had an 04 Heritage and now have an 07 Ultra. I got much better gas mileage with the 04 Heritage. I'm getting about 35 mpg with the 07 with stage 1 and screaming eagle touring mufflers. I got about 44 with the Heritage.

I can't make a comparison but I can tell ya that last Sunday I got 46.4 MPG from the RG with me and mama together. Only thing not stock is the Rinehart slipons. I think the biggest variable in MPG figures is driving habits... I used my cruise control (set @ 72 +/-) as often as possible. Our ride consisted of 70% freeway and 30% 2 lane.

Not sure if themileage will not be to close. Because the 07's have the 96in engine. The best I have gotten is 43 mpg that was at 70-75 on the interstate I was 2-up and loaded for Daytona. Looked like the Clampeds on the move. I V&H Ovals SE Air Cleaner and theHD download

Its kind of like comparing apples ('89 1340 cc EVO 5 speed FLHTC)tooranges ('07 96 cubic inch6speed FLHTC)The old EVO got around 48 miles per gallon. I could count on it to startsputteringuntil I swapped toRES at 190 miles and it stillhad about a gallon left. The new one that's still stock is getting about 37 miles per.The low fuel light is coming on at less than 150 miles-outstanding distancefor a Sportie but prettypoor for a tourer. Hopefully it willget better after it's broken in but I'm not counting on it.

It is like apples and oranges....I ride my 1998 FLHTCUI EVO and get 50-52mpg. My friend has a 2007 FLHTCU and gets 39-40mpg. On one road trip....we traded bikes for one day. The fuel mileage stayed the same. Both bikes had about the same weight and both bikes run very good. Mine has around 50,000 miles and his has about 11,000 miles. I am sure the larger engine likes to drink fuel much more and one more gear helps with mileage. On a touring bike where long distances between gas stations are sometimes critical....his just does not cut it when fuel light comes on around 150 miles where mine can easily hit 190 when the fuel light comes on.

All interstate and cruise right around 70. I get 51 mpg on my Electra glide. I do ride conservative. The speedo and odometer are correct cuz I know the exact miles from my home to work. Now my deluxe for some reason is lucky to get 40 mpg. Both are 2005's

My '07 EG gets 35 - 38 MPG. I'm driving it the way I used to drive my '99 RKC, and I would get 42-44 MPG with it.

Just for comparison purposes, my 06 RG, riding single with about half in the mountains and half at seventy five, averages about 47. It has stage I intake, download and stock, catylist mufflers. One reason I haven't changed to less restrictive mufflers and a DFO is my 04 Dyna WG , which had SEIIs, Ness big sucker and a DFO got around 42 mpg avg. under the same circumstances. It was at least sixty pounds lighter and the RG actually makes me avg. about 10mph more in the mountains because it handles better in the curves than the WG.Also, the 06 runs without sputtering orpopping with just the download and feels pretty strong for an 88 bagger to me.

MPG on the 07 SG is consistantly in the mid to upper 40s running two up with PCIII, stage 1 and slip-ons. When I filled up Sunday after riding in traffic, it was 47 MPG.

The MPG on my 05 RK Custom was not nearly that high.
