Default 25284-08 cam plate with new oil pump?

can i use pn#62400001 new high flow pump with pn#25284-08.

i have a twin cam 88, what do i gain by going to the new set up
Part #: 25284-11

basically i need to replace the tensoiners and i could replace the shoes for pretty darn cheap and the motor runs fine now. so what will i gain by going with the high flow pump and better cam plate.

is it worth an extra 200 more to get the newest set up or would i be fine with the 08 set up

The '11 version supplies 23% more oil the '08 8% compared to the original 88" pump. Only difference.
Another option is a '07+ cam plate with conversion cams. Cheaper and doesn't require the cams to be pressed in the plate.

The conversion cams are different sizes on either end. The new camplate has no bearings in it on the outboard side. Instead, it rides on a film of oil inside the camplate. The inboard side has bearings (which you should change to Torringtons). To the op, I got an 07 camplate with the hydraulic tensioners for cheap from someone who was going back with a Screaming Eagle set up. Much more cost effective for me. Oil pressure went up noticeably. I did Andrews 21N conversion cams, and it was easy. If you're that far into it anyway, why wouldn't you do cams?

More oil pressure, cooler running.
The '07 plate has the hydraulic tensioners, higher volume oil pump. You can get them pretty cheap. The '07 cam are larger diameter on the plate and case sides, and they don't need to be pressed in like the "88. The conversion cams are a hybrid small dia. case side, large on the plate side. You use the '07+ chains.

well, i would like to do big bore kit this winter, so i was thinking that my cam selection should reflect the bore choice this winter, but i couldt run that cam on a stock 88.

so thinking stock cam for now and upgrade the cam plate. great point on the 07 plate. because i dont know how or what tool needed to press cams into place.

but relitivley speeking. i could just replace the tensioner shoes right now because all im gaining is a cooler motor? i am not currently complaining of a hot engine so do i really need it right now.

Pressure may have been the wrong way to describe it, you're increasing the volume of oil being moved through the motor. Keeps the internal parts cooler at high operating temperatures.

If you decide to go the '07+ plate route you should be able to find a complete (pump, tensioners, chains, etc) low mileage takeoff for a reasonable amount. The 96", 103", even a 110" plate will work in your 88", 95", 97", 98" whatever you wind up making it. Try HD Forum classified ads, Craigslist, local shops. If you're doing it this winter start shopping now and stock up on the parts needed.
