Road King logo question

OK, I'm slowly learning here, so please be patient with me.....

I'd like to know if the V logo can (should) be used interchangeably with the FLHR and FLHRC - not on the tank, but rather on chromed accessories. The plain V is not just representative of the FLHR, is it? I like the look (plain), but wonder if it doesn't belong on a FLHRC.

I'd like to keep my bike's "theme" more nostalgic (no skulls or flames), and bought some passenger floorboard covers with the plan V logo, then noticed later that they also sell a "classic" version with a slightly different logo which is more representative of the classic's tank badge.

I have a V on my detachable backrest, so maybe it doesn't matter?

Thanks for any help,

It's your bike, put the V logo where ever you want it.

If you will notice the Road King Classic has "V" stuff all over it. Both fender tips, the seat medallions, and the tank emblems incorporate the "V".

So does anyone know the history behind the V logo? Is this representative of all touring models? Or just the Road King's?

As long as it looks good to you, that's what counts.

I've got the V logo passenger footboard covers and the same on my backrest .. and I have a Road Glide. I got it cause I liked the looks of it. Go with whatever pleases you. That's what great about Harleys .. make it your own. That's why they have a "Mulit-Fit" section of the HD Motor Accessories catalogs!! :)

I know what you're saying, but I agree with the folks who say, "Its your bike...do with it what you want." I guess that if you were thinking of putting a 'Gold Wing' emblem on the bike it would be a bit weird.

Reviving a really old thread.
Since I am waiting on taking delivery of my new King, I am also curious about the history of the V. Why is it relevant to Road Kings and not all V Twins?
