I like the looks of the 2014 OEM Air Cleaner and want to replace my Ventilator with it. My bike is a 2012 Limited.

Problem is, I've done Stage 1, so I need a free flowing Air Cleaner like my current Ventilator.


I asked Jamie from Fuel Moto and he replied;


"Hello, if you are changing to the 2014 style air cleaner I would purchase a Stage 1 air cleaner for the 14 bike and then use the 14 factory cover. The stock backing plate and air cleaner itself is very restrictive, the element is only 1" thick."


But, I can't seem to find the parts I need to make the Stage 1 work with the OEM Stock 2014 Cover.


Anyone done this?

 

I just installed the S/E stage 1 air cleaner and reused my stock cover. I think DK, Fuel Moto, V&H, and Arlen Ness make one for the stock cover. What parts are you looking for? all above are complete kits.

 

All you need is a cover and a couple part if yiu already have the round backing plate click on the instruction sheet for individual parts lest on the link. Ness big sucker makes a stage one filter for the 2014 Rushmore covers also. http://www.kutterharleyonline.com/ha...r-kit-29400129

 

Thanks guys, I guess I didn't realize that you could use the OEM Cover with the Stage 1 filter. I was thinking the Stage 1 round filter wouldn't fit inside the OEM cover.


The pics I've seen of the stock 2014 filter show it as kind of a weird shape, not round.


So basically, I can use the Harley stage 1 backing plate with the round stage 1 filter and it will fit inside the cover?

 

Something I didn't make clear, not sure if it makes a difference.

To work with the SE round filter yiu will need 8,9,and 10 in the pic to use a 2014 cover. I don't see why it would not fit your 2012 limited.

Think what I'm going to do is just buy a complete take off 2014 Air Cleaner Assembly, and then buy the Stage 1 kit just to make sure I'll have all the parts I'll need.

My bike came with a stage 1 on it. It has the stage 1 filter but still has the stock football cover and it fits fine.

 

Opening up an old thread. Are you sure that is all I need parts 8, 9 and 10.

Unless that spacer pushes it out a fair amount, the top of the AC will hit the tank...

Anyone actually done this with the SE backing plate from a pre -2014?

Here is what I did on my 2012 Limited.


Bought a "Take Off" complete Air Cleaner Assembly from a 2014/2015 bike. I gave my dealer $35.00 for the whole assembly they took off someone's bike that wanted to switch to the Ventilator style. Check with your dealer, or you can find them cheap on Ebay (sometimes here in the classifieds also).


To retain the "Stage 1" High Flow Air Cleaner that I was replacing, I bought this from Fuel Moto. Part # FM117-460
