Default A couple of tire questions

2010 Street Glide

I need to replace my front tire due to bad cupping. I'm currently running HD Dunlap 180/65B-16 in the rear which are new. And Metzeler 880 130/70 B 18 in the front.
1. Is the B in the tire size indicating that these are bias tires?
2. If so, I will not be changing the rear, so do I have to run a bias in the front?
3. Amazon has a 888 130/70 R 18 listed but in the details it says its a bias.
4. I want to run a Metzeler 888 130/70 B 18 up front but I'm having a hard time finding this size in the 888. If I find the bias 888 in a little different size would it work . Lets say a 130/80 18. I know the 18 needs to stay the same for the wheel size

Thanks
Rick

First, I'd get them matched as soon as possible. Different compounds and different tread patterns will react to the road differently. Do you really want your front and *** ends reacting differently to the road surface? Second, I'd always replace them together in pairs. The contact patches are the two inches keeping you upright, it's really not the place to try and save some coin. Does the rear wear faster than the front, yes. Not using all of the rubber on a front is just one of those things we put up with a riders. As for the B designation, it usually refers to a black wall verses WW a white wall or a BW which is occasionally used to designate black wall white raised letters.

1. YES
2. You should. Back Radial and Front Bias would be more acceptable than vice versa.
3. Par for the course, it's a radial
4. changing that number will give you a taller tire and larger outer diameter overall.

Did HD install 17's on some of the 2010 SG's ? All of the tire websites are showing this tire for a 2010 HD front wheel, 130/80 B 17 M/C 65H TL but my stock front is 130/70 B18.
Am I correct that a 17 tire should not or cannot be mounted on a 18 wheel?
I dont understand why the sites are listing this as the correct fit.

thanks
Rick

Go this route and match the rear when it wears out. Doesn't hurt a thing to run mismatched tires and you do not have to change front and rear at the same time. I usually go through 2 rears to 1 front. Very good long lasting tires with awesome grip.

FYI- From Metzeler's site:

Tyre contruction type (“-” Bias tyre, “B” Bias-belted, “R” Radial belted)

So I'm running a Bias Belted

DONE! I'm tired of searching for a front tire, it should not be this difficult. I just ordered the Michelin CommanderII. Now i need to find someone local that I trust to install it ......correctly!

Thanks

I think you'll be very pleased with the Michelin. When you wear out the rear replace it with the Michelin as well and notice how much better your bike handles.
