New Hand Shields
 

I just installed new hand shields on my RG. After looking around and only finding plastic shields that look like crap I clicked onto a forum advertiser's link - Great Bike Gear, and found some thing that looks cool and could almost pass for OEM. No more cold fingertips when winter finally gets here! :icon_banana:

Umm........why?

...... the man's got apes on that shark, fingers are fully exposed
......... even w/o the monkey bars, your hands/grips are in the wind flow
.......... those'd come in real handy for a couple hour ride in the winter if you don't wanna 'plug in'

Maybe it’s to keep his manly fingers smooth and supple from the harsh breeze.

No offense but I wouldn't put either one of the two on my bike.Just my opinion.It's your bike.

In my younger years I would have questioned it myself. As I get older, I have realized that functionality trumps style. I have heated grips on my Limited. I use the piss out of them when its cold. They came in handy when it was 29 degrees and snowing the day I picked up my bike.

When I rode WA to CA on 1 & 101 in May of last year my hands were pretty cold a good portion of the time with my RK windscreen. I looked at the available option and had a bit of a verp due to ugliness of what was available.

That design is pretty smart...from what is available on that site it looks like the pressure of mirror stalk is all that holds this in place. Is that correct?

Yep, I have heated grips and even with my Gerbings gloves my fingers turn blue with the wind rushing against my hands when it's cold.

Actually you take off the mirrors, slip the shields onto the mirror mount, then reinstall the mirrors. So the mirror stalk does go right through the wind shields and hold them in when you bolt down the mirrors.

They do look better than the milk jug ones I've seen some use.
